The Tourist Resort of Agia Marina
The largest and best-known organised beach on the island is along its eastern side. The settlement here took its name from the charming little church of the same name located in the southern part of the bay, in the shadow of the Temple of Aphaia and the Monastery of Agios Minas and shaded by an expansive forest of pines. The pines reach down to the sea at many spots, offering a breath of cool air during the summer. The numerous hotels, tourist shops, coffee shops, restaurants and bars cater to the desires of the most demanding visitors. The long beach looking out to the open sea is the perfect spot for a swim not soon forgotten. Agia Marina is accessible by road from Aegina, but also by boat directly from Piraeus.
